Highway 3 between Creston and Yahk remains fully closed following a single person fatality crash in the early morning near Erickson.

The collision occurred on Highway 3, 500 metres east of the Walker Bridge at Erickson.

At the time of the collision, a SUV, containing one person, was travelling eastbound when the driver lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, rolled several times before coming to rest in a raging creek bed.

Emergency Service was contacted, but the female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Indications are that the collision occurred at approximately 1 a.m. (Pacific Time). The driver was travelling eastbound from Surrey.

East Kootenay Traffic Services is investigating the cause of the collision with assistance from ICARS personnel (Collision Reconstructionist.)
