On December 26, Kimberley RCMP received a report of a theft of vehicle that had just occurred in the Wasa area and updates received indicated the vehicle was heading to Cranbrook.

Cranbrook RCMP was notified and the vehicle was spotted by a BC Highway Patrol officer who initiated a traffic stop and took the suspect safely into custody.

The suspect, a 16-year-old male, will be appearing in Cranbrook Provincial Court in February 2024 to face numerous charges.
