Three out-of-control fires in region
BC Wildfire Service is currently battling three out-of-control fires in the East Kootenay.
Along with the estimated 150 hectares Silver Basin wildfire near Bugaboo Provincial Park, there are fires at Upper Finley Creek discovered today (estimated .3 ha) that is about seven km southwest of Whitetail Lake and a 12 ha fire discovered Aug. 30 off Dorr Cutoff Road, west of Loon Lake (pictured).
Both fires are believed to be lightning caused.
