Thunderstorms part of weather ‘statement’ issued
Environment Canada has issued a ‘special weather statement’ for the East Kootenay, warning about possible thunderstorms.
The forecast for today is mainly cloudy with 40% chance of showers with the risk of a thunderstorm. The high is expected to be about 24
Also, the Ministry of Forest, Lands & Natural Resource Operations continues with its flood watch and High Stream Flow Advisory for the southeast region of the province.
Mainroad Contracting East Kootenay reports it will continue to monitor and address events as they occur.
“We plan to schedule extra patrols as required to monitor the expected increased water flows in the watercourses in the region,” Mainroad stated this morning.
The public is reminded during these high flow conditions to keep an extra eye on children and pets, keeping them away from creek and river edges.
