Time for Kootenay Country Fall Fair entries

Calling all exhibitors of all ages in the areas of garden produce and cut flowers, baking, preserves, needlework and crafts, arts, photography and reduce, reuse and recycle.

Consider entering your creations in the Kootenay Country Fall Fair happening Sunday, September 11 at Fort Steele Heritage Town.

Drop off your entries on Saturday, September 10 at the Fort between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Judging takes place Saturday after displays are ready.

After two years hiatus the Kootenay Country Fair is back.

You may have seen social media information, posted by Fort Steele Heritage Town, letting everyone know there is still time to get your entries in. (Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Thursday September 8, so your entry is eligible to be judged. Late entries are not judged but will be displayed.)

You can check the KC Fair website https://www.kootenaycountryfair.com for more information about categories and to enter this year.

When you attend the Fair on Sunday, September 11, you could be viewing the next Emily Carr (Canadian painter), Brigitte Shim (Canadian architect)  Raymonde April OC (Canadian photographer) or Nadia Giosia (Canadian celebrity chef).

I am here to encourage photographers to enter the Adult section L and Junior Section M. You don’t need to be a professional photographer but you do need to present your picture/s ready to hang. It could be as simple as fixing your picture to a cardboard or foam backing and then securely taping a centered paperclip to the backing so your photos are ready to hang. You can put your picture in a frame but, please make sure there is a hook in order to hang the picture. If your picture is not ready to be hung it may not be displayed.

In years past, Sally Passey was the photography convenor for the KC Fair. Sally died recently and we will have  a dedication at the photography display, in honour of Sally for her many years volunteering at Fort Steele. Sally documented life and added to our lives in our community.
