Travelling criminals arrested after ramming RCMP

Cranbrook RCMP, with the assistance of Kimberley RCMP, arrested four individuals in two vehicles after a suspect rammed police earlier this morning.

Cranbrook RCMP was advised that a black F350 dually pick-up truck had just been stolen out of the Columbia Valley area. Cranbrook RCMP set up containment of the area and deployed a spike belt in an attempt to stop the vehicle, which had been joined by a silver F150. Both vehicles evaded police at that time.

The vehicles were later located and a second spike belt was deployed. With the help of a local helicopter, the suspect vehicles were located on a Forest Service Road and four people were taken into custody.

“The suspects located in the vehicles are persons of interest in a series of thefts in and around the Cranbrook area,” said Cst Katie Forgeron. “They remain in police custody at this time as we continue to investigate”.

“Police are also asking anyone who might have picked up some tools in the Highway 95A and Tata Creek Road area to contact them as the tools were also stolen and fell out of the suspect vehicle,” added Cst. Forgeron. “If you located the tools we ask that you reach out to the Kimberley RCMP, or drop them off at the detachment.”
