Trespass docks to be removed in vicinity of RDEK park
The B.C. government is in the process of issuing Trespass Notices for several docks that have been illegally moored adjacent to Moyie Lake Access, which is a Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) park in the southwest end of Moyie Lake.
“Over the years, a number of trespass docks have been placed along the shoreline of Moyie Lake Access. Following a 30-day notice period, the province will seize any remaining illegal docks,” explained RDEK Recreation and Control Services Supervisor Jamie Davies.
“We are hoping to get the message out so that owners of the docks in question become aware, and so that the wider community understands where these Notices are being issued and why. This enforcement by the province only affects docks adjacent to Moyie Lake Access.”
Natural Resource Officers will be issuing Trespass Notices on the affected docks starting as early as this week and owners will have 30 days to voluntarily remove them.
Moyie Lake Access is an Electoral Area C Park located on the southwest end of Moyie Lake in the Braunagel Road/Park Road area. It has been designated as a park since 1902 and was named as an RDEK Electoral Area C Park in the RDEK Regional Parks Plan in 2024.
The foreshore is regulated by the province and the construction, placement and use of private moorage facilities, including docks, on Crown land require authorization from the B.C. government.
