Truckers sacrifice selves for others’ safety
Letter to the Editor
I would like to thank two logging truck drivers. On February 9, on the morning my husband was traveling back to Kimberley from Elkford, the roads were horrible and there was limited visibility.
Everyone was driving for winter conditions. He was about 20 kilometres east of Cranbrook when he came around a curve and had to stop for an accident. There was a long line of vehicles all waiting for the police to deal with this accident.
He looked in his rear view mirror and saw a logging truck come around the curve; that truck hit the brakes and another logging truck was behind. The trucks were unable to stop in time. The one logging truck pulled along side the other and ran into him, which pushed them both into the ditch on opposite sides of the road. Rather than take out the line of passenger vehicles and pedestrians causing a lot of destruction and maybe even deaths, the truck drivers sacrificed their own safety. I pray that both truck drivers are safe.
A thankful wife…
