Two fires burning west of city
Two new wildfires are being battled west of Cranbrook this morning.
The largest, at four hectares, is approximately five km northwest of Moyie (on the west side of the lake) in Lamb Creek. It is not threatening any structures or communities.
Smoke is highly visible in the area. BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has six firefighters on scene along with airtankers and one helicopter.
The second fire at Booth Creek (also known as the Fassifern area), about eight km from Cranbrook. The fire is about .1 ha and is not threatening buildings or a community.
BCWS is hitting it with airtankers, a helicopter and an initial attack crew.
