Water Quality Advisory for Kimberley and Marysville

The heavy rainfall is continuing to play havoc with regional water sources as it adds to their levels.

The City of Kimberley has issued a Water Quality Advisory for Mark Creek water users. This includes all of Kimberley and Marysville as a precautionary measure in accordance with Interior Health’s guidelines for water quality, notes the city’s website this morning (June 6).

Interior Health is recommending that children, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water when turbidity levels are above 1 NTU. Furthermore, Interior Health recommends that all users boil their drinking water when turbidity levels are above 5 NTU.

This is NOT a boil water advisory for the general public.
Contact Interior Health at 1-888-426-7566 or City Hall at 250-427-5311 ext. 213 or click HERE to see the Turbidity Index.

Meanwhile, batten down the hatches because this heavy late spring rain is going to continue in the region. An additional 20 to 50 mm of rain is expected today and tonight throughout the East Kootenay.
A slow moving northward low pressure system over Southern Alberta is giving rain at times heavy to much of the B.C. interior today and tonight. The rain will taper off tonight as the low moves further north and weakens.
