Wycliffe area fire classified as being held

The wildfire is now classified as BEING HELD, which means with current resourcing, it is not expected to grow further.

A huge thank you to all the emergency responders including RCMP and BC Wildfire for the swift response this afternoon, and the East Kootenay Emergency Program personnel and Emergency Support Services teams for standing up in support as the situation was evolving.

Emergency officials are communicating with the residents of the one property that was evacuated, and they will soon be able to return home (if they are not already), which is the best possible outcome.

Original story:

A tactical evacuation is underway for one property in the 3000 block area of Mission Wycliffe Road due to a wildfire.

RCMP are on site conducting the evacuation and Emergency Support Services is in the process of being set up for the affected evacuees. BC Wildfire is on scene.

More information will be provided as it becomes available; however, residents are asked to avoid the Mission Wycliffe Road area north of the intersection of Highway 95A and the intersection of Wycliffe Mission Road (by the Kings Chapel Pentecostal Church).
