$9 million in BC Hydro work begins in Elk Valley
BC Hydro is working on a $9 million capital improvement project in the Elk Valley over the next year.
The work focuses on upgrades to 34 kilometres of transmission line between Natal Substation in Sparwood and Elkford Tap Station in Elkford. This work is needed to replace aging infrastructure in order to meet future demand and provide reliable power for generations.
“We would like to provide the public with advance notice of site activity. While we expect the work to have minimal impact on customers in the Elk Valley, we recognize the inconvenience the preliminary work and construction activity may cause. From time-to-time short temporary closures of trails may be required to keep the public safe, while equipment and crews are working on some sections of line,” BC Hydro stated.
The project is being completed by BC Hydro and SNC-Lavalin.
“Safety is our number one priority and we are committed to delivering this project in a safe and efficient manner. Please obey traffic signs and flaggers who are on site to keep us safe,” BC Hydro asks.
