Community praised after tree hits vehicle near Hosmer

On May 31, Elk Valley RCMP officers responded to a call of a tree falling onto a passing vehicle on Highway 3 near Hosmer.

Due to the windy conditions the large tree fell and landed on a vehicle with two adults and two young children inside the vehicle.

All passengers were shaken up but were able to get out of the vehicle with minor injuries before being attended to by BC Emergency Health Services.

Community members of the Elk Valley stepped up and assisted by helping the family, assisting with initial traffic control, and removing the tree from the roadway, Ek Valley RCMP reported on social media.

One local couple even went so far as to transport the family’s belongings to a local hotel before covering their hotel bill.

Elk Valley RCMP want to voice our appreciation for the assistance, compassion, and hospitality shown by our community members during this incident.
