Arrest made after road rage incident in Elkford

On August 15 at 6:48 p.m., Elk Valley Regional RCMP responded to a reported case of road rage near the 60 km/h zone along Highway 43 in Elkford.

The complainant reports being tailgated heading northbound toward Elkford and then being passed by a grey Ram truck across a double solid line.

When the vehicles reached the intersection at Alpine Way, there was a short exchange of gestures between the parties, resulting in the Ram truck turning toward the complainant’s vehicle, pulling in front and cutting them off.

The driver, a 46-year-old Elkford resident, got out of the truck and hurled a large rock at the complainant’s vehicle.

“Statements were obtained from the victim and other witnesses. The suspect was located at his residence and arrested without incident. The man has since been released from police custody on an appearance notice for court in December 2023. There is video related to the incident,” reported S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen, Elk Valley RCMP Detachment commander.
