Daycare struck by vehicle in Elkford
On July 7, Elk Valley Regional RCMP was notified that a building had been damaged in the 2200 block of Balmer Drive in Elkford.
Upon attendance, police met with the property representatives at Curious Cubs Daycare, who showed police damage to an outside wall, believed to have been caused by a vehicle.
Investigators noted there were two small indentations on the wall at the approximate height and location of screws on a licence plate, possibly located on a trailer or car.
The damage on the outside wall looks rather minimal, but serious structural damage occurred on the inside of the building, including a broken wall stud visible through the broken drywall inside the daycare.
This incident occurred sometime between the evening of June 27 to the morning of June 29. There is no CCTV located in the area of the incident.
Police believe that it is highly unlikely the person involved did not notice the incident when it occurred, and may have thought that the damage was extremely minimal when, in fact, the collision impacted the structure of the wall.
RCMP are hoping that the person involved or witnesses will come forward and provide information to assist police with resolving the investigation.
