Elkford advances re-opening plan
The District of Elkford announced this morning (May 29) that it is continuing with phase two of its re-opening plan and on June 1 the municipal office, community conference centre and visitor centre will once again be open to the public.
However, there will be restricted access and strict physical distancing and safety protocols.
The district also announced it is working with the operators of the Elkford Arts Studio, public library and Elkford Lions Club’s municipal campground “to create comprehensive, safe opening and operating plans” and is leaving it up to those operators to open when they are ready.
“As we adjust to this new normal, and move further into the re-opening plan, we express that staying safe and healthy is everyone’s responsibility. Every citizen has an important role in the collective health and safety of our families and the community. Please do your part by following the ongoing guidelines and restrictions of health authorities and the public advisory signage when visiting Elkford’s indoor and outdoor facilities,” the district stated on its website.
“As the COVID-19 situation rapidly evolves and following the orders and directives of provincial and regional health authorities, then district will continue to monitor and plan toward the future return to full operations. We advise that the district’s re-opening plan is subject to change at the district’s discretion, or in response to provincial orders and directives,” it concluded.
