The District of Elkford isn’t just at the ‘beginning of the road,’ it is also at the front of the line in the region when it comes to installing a new government.

Thanks to only person running for mayor – incumbent Dean McKerracher (pictured above), only six citizens running for council and just one for school board of trustees, there will be no election Nov. 19 in the district.

All eight positions are acclaimed as a result and on Oct. 24, district Chief Election Officer Leanne Jensen, in accordance with the Local Government Act (Section 76(3)), declared the candidates elected by acclamation.
Acclaimed to office are: Office of Mayor – Dean McKerracher; Office of Councillor – Walter Conibear, Mandy McGregor, Shelly McLean, Craig Robinson, Ken Wildeman and Joe Zarowny; and Office of Trustee – Curtis Helgesen.
