Wildcat Days latest annual event to fall to COVID-19

The District of Elkford April 17 announced that Wildcat Days 2020 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district said on social media that its priority remains the health and safety of residents and considering time uncertainties around the pandemic, as well as orders and directives from the federal and provincial governments, “we are saddened to announced the cancellation of Wildcat Days 2020.

“We ask you to join us in looking forward to a post-COVID community celebration once we are safely able to do so. We look forward to celebrating with all of you.”

The Elkford Municipal Campground also remains closed, the district noted.

“The district and Elkford Lions Club will continue to liaise and monitor the COVID-19 situation in order to best determine future actions for the campground,” the district said.

This past week saw the cancellation of Sparwood’s Coal Miner Days and postponement of Cranbrook’s Sam Steele Days.
