An inter-department relay competition and skills demonstration will be highlights of the day as the first Elko Fire Department Open House gets underway on Saturday.

“We have a great day lined up,” says South Country Rural Fire Service Deputy Chief, Michael Hockley. “We will have games and activities, equipment displays, a barbecue, fire hall tours and more.”

The Open House runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the firefighter skills demonstration is slated to start at approximately 12:30 with the relay competition to follow.

“It’s going to be a great chance for everyone in the South Country to check out the displays, see the RDEK’s newest Fire Hall and cheer on their favourite team in the relay,” added Hockley.

All of the activities will be happening at the Elko Fire Hall this Saturday, May 14.
