Ridgemont fuel management program delayed
Council was advised the fuel management work previously scheduled for the area above Ridgemont could not proceed at this time. The Tri-Regional District JOP Funded Program has been withdrawn due to an accounting short fall to cover unanticipated costs associated with the HST.
No fuel treatment in James White Park
In 2010 a survey was completed of all forested Crown Lands within the City of Fernie that might represent a fire hazard. In the opinion of the registered professional forester conducting the survey, James White Park is considered at low risk for wild fire and presented minimal hazards to the residences and structures near the park. As such, fuel treatments will not occur in the park at this time.
