Fernie group seeks to empower siblings of special needs children
Facilitator training taking place June 21
Sibshops Fernie is a non-profit organization on a mission to uplift and support siblings of special needs children. Founded in the fall of 2024 by Amy Attalla, who intimately understands the unique challenges of growing up with a sister with autism
Sibshops Fernie is dedicated to providing a nurturing space where siblings can forge friendships, gain support, and celebrate their distinctive roles within their families.
As Sibshops Fernie continues to flourish, the need for passionate facilitators has never been greater.
Amy Atalla invites compassionate individuals to join her and the Sibshop team on Saturday, June 21, at the Fernie Elks Hall located at 471, 1st Avenue in Fernie.
Attendees will be treated to a complimentary lunch graciously provided by Big Bang Bagels.
These dynamic, fun, high-energy workshops are designed just for children aged eight to 13 who have a sibling with disabilities. As a facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in creating a fun and secure environment for these remarkable siblings. This opportunity is perfect for educators, parents, youth leaders, older students, or anyone who wants to make a meaningful impact in a child’s life.
After this four-hour training workshop, facilitators will help run four Sibshops sessions during the school year. Each session runs for four weeks, just one hour per week.
For those inspired to make a difference, please visit the Sibshops Fernie website at www.ferniesibshops.com for sign-up details.
