Fernie SAR rescue injured cliff jumper
On Wednesday, August 16 Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was tasked to rescue an injured cliff jumper at Silver Springs Lakes.
The subject injured her ankle when she hit the water awkwardly.
She managed to get out of the water and up on to the shore, but was unable to weight bear for the short hike out to their vehicle.
Three Boost HEC trained SAR members were dispatched and a fourth remained at the helicopter base to coordinate. During the reconnaissance flight of the area to determine if a long line rescue would be required the helicopter pilot advised he could safely land near the subject and the subject was loaded into the helicopter and the long line was not required.
The woman was transported back to helicopter base and handed over to the BC Ambulance Service for further assessment and transport to the hospital.
