Fernie skiing greats being honoured Friday
Fernie Skiing Heritage is set for a celebration of community skiing greats who have been inducted into the Fernie Skiing Heritage Hall of Fame Feb. 10 at Cornerstone Lodge in Fernie Alpine Resort.
On Friday afternoon, 30 pioneers, builders and sport leaders, who have been inducted into the Fernie Skiing Heritage Wall of Fame, will be honoured when their story is added to the Hall of Fame.
Four special individuals and their stories are below…
Linda Socher, the matriarch of mountain living will be honoured. In her eighties, she skis most days in Fernie. (100 days in the 2022 season at age 85).
Canadian Ski Team Alumni and NCAA athlete, Born and raised in Fernie, Jennifer Delich, Physiotherapist, practices her profession and keeps mountain living residents healthy.
Three-time Olympian and Canadian Ski Team Alumni, Emily Brydon will be honoured with her story added to the Hall of Fame. Emily, traveled and competed around the world, now works and lives in the mountain town where she was born and raised.
Fernie Adaptive Ski and their founder, Grace Brullotte will be honoured. The special and inclusive ski programs provides the thrill of skiing for children of all abilities.
Fernie Skiing Heritage was established in 2012 during the 50th Anniversary of Fernie Snow Valley.
