Fernie’s Kaleb Barnum silver in World Cup Ski Cross
Canadian Ski Cross racer Kaleb Barnum continued his outstanding 2026 season with a breakthrough silver medal performance at a FIS Ski Cross World Cup event on Sunday, March 23, at Craigleith Ski Club, near Collingwood, Ontario.
Barnum, 21, the youngest competitor at Sunday’s event, was up against the best Ski Cross athletes in the world. The Fernie native delivered under pressure, earning his first career World Cup podium in a thrilling men’s big final.
Barnum powered through the four-man race to secure second place behind Italy’s Federico Tomasoni.
It was a strong day for Canada, with Barnum joined on the podium by teammate Kris Mahler, who captured bronze. The double podium finish came at the only Canadian stop of the World Cup circuit.
Barnum, a member of the Canadian Ski Cross Team, has been building momentum all season with consistent podiums and top finishes on the European Cup circuit. His result in Craigleith marks a major milestone and further establishes him as one of Canada’s rising stars in Ski Cross.
With speed, precision, and composure on full display, Barnum’s silver medal performance highlights both his rapid progression and the continued strength of Canada’s Ski Cross program on the world stage.
Barnum trains and races across North America and Europe, proudly representing Canada in World Cup and European Cup competition.
