Griz sow and cubs observed again on Heiko’s
WildSafeBC Elk Valley is alerting the public about a grizzly sow and cubs being observed on the Fernie area’s “most epic of hikes” – Heiko’s Trail.
“On Sept. 1, another group of hikers encountered a grizzly sow and cubs on Heiko’s by the Tamarack this morning. Heiko’s is grizzly bear habitat. Know what you are getting yourself into and be prepared. Consider doing Heiko’s as a day hike rather than camp in a grizzly bear corridor,” WildSafeBC suggested.
“Expect more bear activity this time of year and consider not camping on Heiko’s.”
