Next Fernie Writers Mini-Conference March 13-15
Long recognized as one of Canada’s premier climbers and photographers, Pat Morrow and spouse Baiba will lead a Fernie Writers Mini-Conference Integrating Photography into Writing. While the words carry the story, a few judicious photos can make the difference between the ordinary and the exceptional.
Pat will work with the participants in becoming comfortable with their camera. Baiba, with Keith Liggett, will work on creating the story behind the photo, bringing the story and the photo into focus together. While the action in a photo may seem enough,
The workshop will be divided into two groups, each limited to eight to 10 participants.
The Mini-Conference will be held at Fernie Alpine Resort and participants will be able to purchase discounted lift tickets. A special block of rooms has been set aside for lodging the photographer/writers by our sponsoring lodging companies, Fernie Lodging Co and Lizard Creek Lodge.
The weekend starts with a social gathering at Lizard Creek Lodge Friday evening, March 13. Sessions run all day, Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
Saturday evening in the Meeting Room at Lizard Creek Lodge, Pat and Baiba will give a presentation on their most recent book, Searching for Tao Canyon (Rocky Mountain Books).
Tuition for the weekend is $250 and includes admission to the presentation.
The Youth Session for the weekend led by Danielle Gibson will run from 1 to 7 p.m. March 13 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 14. For more information on the Youth Session contact Keith Liggett (see below).
