The annual Reel Canadian Film Festival is a celebration of the best of Canada’s filmmaking from across the country featuring drama, documentary, and French-language work from some of Canada’s top directors, actors, and industry professionals.

Inspired by the popularity of Indie Films Fernie monthly screenings, a dedicated group of volunteers decided to plan a festival in honour of Canadian film.

The first Reel Canadian Film Festival was held in Fernie in 2009 with four feature films and a sold-out opening night.

This year’s festival taking place January 26-28 at The Vogue Theatre in Fernie.

2024 Feature Films:

• I’m Just Here for the Riot (documentary) followed by Industry Q&A with James Brown, producer.
• Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant (horror/comedy).
• Suze (drama).
• Richelieu (social drama).
• Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun (documentary).
• The Braid (drama).
