Ride, drags and fundraisers in February for FSA
The Fernie Snowmobile Association (FSA) has a busy February ahead, with three key events planned.
The first is the Moonlight Ride (Lunar Eclipse ride) on Saturday, Feb. 11. Departing the Morrissey staging area around 6 p.m., participants will ride 30 km to the Rolling Hills cabin for a family bonfire and BBQ event.
Next up on Feb. 18 is the Fernie Snow Drags at the Derby Grounds. More information available at www.ferniesnowmobile.com.
And closing out the month is the FSA Snowmobile Avalanche Awareness days at the Rolling Hills cabin on Feb 26, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
FSA members will be hosting this free social event for sledders to participate in a fundraiser BBQ with presentations and demonstrations including: Avalanche Transceiver Basin and companion rescue practice area with Elk Valley Snow Shepherds, 2017 & 2018 snowmobile/snowbike demos on site from Ghostrider Motorsports, Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association demonstrations, Avalanche Canada South Rockies field team presentations, Fernie Search and Rescue backcountry emergency preparedness/the latest emergency rescue gear, Ascent helicopters with a snowmo-heli-slinging and rescue presentation and more. Lots of prizes and giveaways!
The snowmobile community can also look forward to the all-new Fernie Snowmobile Association Trail Guide, which will be arriving from the printers shortly. This 16-page guide is full of trail maps, riding area images, and other valuable information about sledding in Fernie.
