On February 16, at 1:05 p.m., Elk Valley Regional RCMP along with Sparwood Fire Rescue, BC and Alberta Ambulance, MOTT and Mainroad East Kootenay were alerted to a serious collision involving four vehicles, one being a semi tractor trailer, approximately eight km east of Sparwood along Highway 3.

Several drivers and passengers are being taken to various hospitals in the local and regional area.

The highway is expected to be closed for a few hours while the police investigation continues, Elk Valley Regional RCMP reported.
