Lions speaking at Elk Valley schools
Between January 30 and February 1, BC Lions players will be visiting schools in the Elk Valley, part of the ‘BC Lions in the community program’ undertaken by the Canadian Football League club.
Lions Craig Roh and Eric Fraser will be speaking to students at Jaffray Elementary and Junior Secondary School at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 30, about ‘Be More Than A Bystander.’
Be More Than a Bystander is a groundbreaking initiative between Ending Violence Association of B.C. (EVA BC) and the BC Lions aimed at substantially increasing understanding of the impact of men’s violence against women.
The program will break the silence surrounding violence against women and girls by providing tools, language and practical ideas about how to be more than a bystander, how to speak up and how to communicate that violence and abuse is not acceptable.
Partners are the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development and Encana Corporation and supported by the BC Federation of Labour.
Roh and Fraser bring the program to Elkford Elementary and Secondary schools on Tuesday, January 31 at 9:45 a.m.
Following, they will be at Sparwood Secondary School at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 31.
On Wednesday Feb. 1, Fraser will be joined by receiver Shawn Gore for a 9:45 a.m. presentation to students at Fernie Secondary School.
