Mainroad issues weather advisory for Elk Valley
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting this afternoon (March 8) issued a weather advisory, warning of mixed precipitation expected to begin tomorrow in the Elk Valley.
A snow/rain mix is expected to begin during the afternoon, turning to snow in the evening. Saturday accumulation of snow is forecasted to be up to five centimetres.
Snowfall will continue overnight into Sunday with up to 15 cm forecasted.
The snow will continue into Monday with accumulations of 5cm, before beginning to taper off on Tuesday, Mainroad forecasts.
Mainroad crews are currently out applying winter material, please leave a safe travelling distance, and ensure your lights are turned on when driving as visibility can be limited during heavy snowfall.
Motorists should use caution, drive to the conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather. Drivers should check www.drivebc.ca before heading out.
