SAR groups rescue sledders
Fernie and Sparwood Search and Rescue groups were activated at 11:50 p.m. Friday night (Jan. 17) for two overdue timber sledders from Calgary.
Overnight planning established that the two men were staged out of Corbin Road and had not returned to their vehicles.
Following a series of gas and engine issues they spent the night in a cabin in the Leach Ridge area before activating their SPOT device. SAR Techs responded via Ascent Helicopters to pick the two men up early this morning (Jan. 18).
