Fernie Search and Rescue was called out today (Jan. 15) to investigate snowmobile tracks heading over a ridge where a cornice release and subsequent avalanche were observed.

“With some indication of a transceiver signal being detected, Fernie SAR responded with three avalanche technicians via helicopter. After some investigation it was concluded that there was no sledder involvement,” Fernie SAR reported on Facebook.

The location of the possible incident was not reported.
