Snowfall warning for Elk Valley
Environment Canada has issued another snowfall warning for the Elk Valley area.
A cold front tracking across the interior will give snow beginning this morning and becoming heavy at times tonight. Total snowfall amounts of 15 cm can be expected by Friday morning, Environment Canada stated.
The Fernie area is expected to get the most snow.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
While not under a snowfall warning the rest of the region can also expect some precipitation.
Cranbrook and Kimberley areas have a 40% chance of flurries this evening and after midnight. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 7. Wind chill near minus 10.
It will be mainly cloudy with a 30% chance of flurries in the Columbia Valley, with wind southeast 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low minus 10. Wind chill minus 14 this evening.
Kootenay National Park will get about 2 to 4 cm snow. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light near midnight. Temperature steady near minus 10. Wind chill minus 18 this evening.
