EVR supports Sparwood Fire Department
Elk Valley Resources (EVR) recently contributed $50,000 to the District of Sparwood Fire Department toward the purchase of an extractor and drying cabinet.
The extractor is a specialized washing machine that helps maintain firefighter health and safety by removing carcinogens and hazardous materials from uniforms, boots, gloves, and respirators.
The drying cabinet gets firefighters back on the job faster by expediting the drying process of safety gear from one day to one hour.
Approximately 75% of Sparwood Fire Department volunteer firefighters work at EVR and are mine rescue team members.
Promoting safety—whether it’s on or off the job—is very important for all of us at EVR and helps to ensure everyone gets home safe, every day.
