Investigation leads to arrest and vehicle seizure in Sparwood
On June 6, Elk Valley Regional RCMP’s General Investigation/Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance from the Cranbrook RCMP Police Dog Service Team, completed a drug investigation at a suspected drug dealer’s residence in the 200 block of Pine Avenue in Sparwood.
The investigation involved the arrest of two suspected drug dealers, the seizure of one of their vehicles and a search of their residence with support of a search warrant issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police spent a large part of the day in that area of Sparwood completing the initial investigation, which included involvement of the Ministry of Child and Family Development.
A seizure of drugs, money and firearms was completed from the individuals involved incidental to arrest as well as from the residence.
The vehicle seized and other assets believed to be proceeds of crime will be turned over to civil forfeiture for their furtherance.
The woman involved was released without charges while the man was released on an Undertaking with conditions related to firearm offences, pending charge approval by Crown Counsel. The ongoing scene security at the residence was released shortly around 10 p.m.
As the matter is still under investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen, Elk Valley RCMP Detachment commander stated, “we appreciate the public’s patience during the police investigation and the hard work of our general investigative team and frontline members who worked diligently to complete this successful drug investigation.”
