Sparwood Council Facts

The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the March 15 District of Sparwood council meeting.

DELEGATIONS

BC Social Procurement Initiative

Rob Fisher, Project Coordinator, presented the BC Social Procurement Initiative (BCSPI). The BCSPI is a public sector initiative that helps local governments and institutional purchasers turn their procurement dollars into achievable and measurable community benefits.

BUSINESS

Red Cedar Drive

Council authorized staff to execute a contract with Bad Ventures for the Red Cedar Drive Rehabilitation and Upgrade Project for a cost of $1,436,248.49. The project will include the rehabilitation of a section of Red Cedar Drive from Centennial Street to Alpine Place.

Ice Plant Condenser

Council authorized staff to execute a contract with CIMCO Refrigeration for the removal and replacement of the ice plant condenser for a cost of $173,588.77. The district’s ice plant condenser serves the area and curling rink, it is a critical part of the ice making system and was due to be replaced in 2022. The new condenser will include the optional variable frequency drive.

UPCOMING DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETINGS

The following meetings will take place in Council Chambers (136 Spruce Avenue):

  • Special Meeting – 2022 Financial Plan on Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m.
  • Special Meeting – CBT Community Initiatives on Monday, April 4 at 6 p.m.
  • Parcel Tax Review Panel Meeting on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:45 p.m.
  • Regular Meeting on Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m.
