Sparwood Council Facts

The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the June 20 District of Sparwood council meeting.

BUSINESS

Statement of Financial Information

Council approved the Statement of Financial Information (SOFI) for 2022. The district is required to prepare a SOFI annually for council’s approval as per the Financial Information Act (FIA) prior to June 30 each year. The FIA details what information is required and the format in which it is to be reported. This includes: a) List of remuneration and expenses paid to or on behalf of elected officials; b) List of remuneration in excess of $75,000 and expenses paid to or on behalf of those employees; c) Consolidated total of remuneration paid to all employees and elected officials during the fiscal year; d) List of the total amount paid to each supplier of goods and services during the fiscal year in excess of $25,000 plus consolidated total of all payments made to suppliers for goods and services during the fiscal year; e) List of grants paid during the year in excess of $25,000 plus consolidated total of all grant payments during the fiscal year; and f) Consolidated total of all payments and grants paid during the fiscal year.

2022 Annual Municipal Report

The Annual Municipal Report was approved by council as presented and is available on the district’s webpage for the public. The 2022 Municipal Highlights have been printed and will be available at the Municipal Office, the library, and the Leisure Centre.

New Council Portal

The District of Sparwood is excited to announce the launch of the new Council Portal effective July 5. The new Council Portal will allow for improved transparency and access to information related to council meetings, hearings, and decisions. More information will be made available soon.
