The policy also determines the occasions when flags shall be flown at half-mast or the process by which a commemorative flag may be flown.
Community Funding and Support Request – Sparwood & District Fish & Wildlife Association
The Sparwood & District Fish & Wildlife Association (SDFWA) is a well-established non-profit organization which provides wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement projects throughout the Elk Valley and surrounding areas. In the past, the SDFWA has hosted an awards banquet at the Sparwood Leisure Centre which has been a key fundraiser for the organization.
Along with the awards presentation, the event includes a variety of raffles and draws, which raise awareness and funds for the conservation initiatives undertaken by the organization. Members of the public are able to purchase tickets to this event.
This year, the banquet is planned for April 13, and council has approved an in-kind donation of up $3,000 for the rental of the Leisure Centre Facilities.
