Development Variance Permit – 2514 Kestrel Court

Council approved a Development Variance Permit for 2514 Kestrel Court, in the Whiskey Jack development, to vary sections of the Zoning Bylaw to reduce minimum front yard to 5.5m and rear yard to 3.05m. The property owner has applied to subdivide the property, on which exists a two-family dwelling, into 2 separate lots.

Sparwood Minor Soccer

Council directed staff to work with Sparwood Minor Soccer Club to find a suitable location on public lands for the placement of a shed for Club use to store their equipment.  The club is also requesting use of a municipal shed stored at the Public Works Yard.  The club plans to do some fundraising to fix up the shed and place in on a concrete pad once a suitable location has been determined.

Grave Lake Campsite and Recreation Area

Council approved a donation of the costs for trucking of rock supplied by Teck Coal, for the use and benefit of the Sparwood & District Fish and Wildlife Association at the Grave Lake Recreation Area (pictured above), cost not to exceed $1,500.

Teck had received a request from the Sparwood & District Fish and Wildlife Association, who manages the campground at Grave Lake for them, for boulders to be used for campground improvements. In recognition that Teck is currently supplying the District with boulders to restrict motorized vehicle access to public lands behind Fire Hall #2 in Sparwood Heights, at no cost other than hauling, Teck requested the District to donate the cost of hauling rock from Elkview to the Grave Lake Campground.
