Sparwood presents long service awards
The District of Sparwood was pleased to recognize the contributions of long-term employees during the annual Christmas Party and Awards Banquet.

While several employees were presented with service pins for five to 15 years, two individuals were recognized for their significant history with the municipality.
Bonnie Willett, who was known to be a friendly face at the Sparwood Leisure Centre, has served a total of 35 years; 30 which have been spent at the pool.
Karl Ehrler, who has climbed through the ranks and now sits as Sparwood Fire Department Assistant Chief, was celebrated for his 30-year dedication to the team.
“It seemed like it was yesterday when I first joined the Fire Department,” said Ehrler. “Time flies. I have learned a lot and seen a lot and am happy to continue to assist the community within this capacity.”
Both were commended for their dedication to the community and the work they do.
“It is really a great thing to see employees work within the district for such a considerable amount of time. They become people who are familiar and trusted within the community and carry with them a great deal of knowledge and history. Both Bonnie Willett and Karl Ehrler have proven to provide a high level of expertise in all that they do and we are thankful to have them as part of the team,” said Sparwood Mayor David Wilks.
Sheri Taylor, who has recently retired, was also thanked for her 34 years of service at the District of Sparwood.
