A first in Canada unveiled
Partners of the Accelerate Kootenays project, along with the Honourable Bill Bennett, Minister of Energy and Mines and Kootenay East MLA, today officially opened the Cranbrook Electric Vehicle DC Fast Charging Station.
The launch and ribbon cutting marked the beginning of a two-year, $1.5 million initiative to install 13 DC Fast Chargers and 40 Level 2 charging stations in communities across the Kootenays. The project is the first of its kind in Canada.
Hosted by the Regional Districts of East Kootenay, Kootenay Boundary and Central Kootenay, Minister Bennett was joined by Raymond Lings, Powertech Labs President and CEO; Johnny Strilaeff, Columbia Basin Trust President and CEO; Rick Jensen, Columbia Basin Trust Board Chair; Rob Gay, RDEK Board Chair; Kathryn Teneese, Ktunaxa Nation Council chair, Danielle Cardozo with the City of Cranbrook and Roger Dall’Antonia, Executive VP, Customer Service & Technology, FortisBC at this morning’s unveiling at the corner of Cranbrook St N and 1st St N (municipal parking lot behind the credit union).
