By-election coming after Kimberley councillor resigns

The City of Kimberley announces Steven Royer’s resignation from City Council, effective immediately, for personal reasons.

First elected in October 2022, Royer has contributed to the betterment of our community. His service and commitment are appreciated.

In response to Royer’s resignation, Mayor Don McCormick expressed his gratitude, stating, “We thank Steven for his contributions to the City of Kimberley. We extend our best wishes as he focuses on his personal priorities.”

A by-election to fill the vacancy is anticipated to be held in September 2024 following timelines in the Local Government Act and to avoid voting during the summer months. Details regarding candidacy, voting opportunities, and the election day will be announced soon.

The City of Kimberley is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in representation for its residents.
