Dynamiters’ Murphy makes KIJHL Week 6 Team
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Oct. 26.
Defence:
Jackson Murphy – Kimberley Dynamiters
Murphy assisted on the first two goals to give the Dynamiters a 2-0 lead against the Columbia Valley Rockies enroute to a 6-4 win. Murphy was +4 while playing 16:42.
Jake Kessler – Kelowna Chiefs
Kessler (Warman, Sask.) set up two goals, including having the second assist on the winner in their 9-7 win over the Sicamous Eagles. Against the Osoyoos Coyotes, Kessler scored to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead in what would end up being a 4-3 overtime win. He played an average of 20:51 and was +2.
Forwards:
Rylan Konecsni – Kelowna Chiefs
The hometown product exploded offensively and played a huge factor in their 9-7 win over the Sicamous Eagles with a hat-trick and two assists. He set up the 7-7 goal then scored the insurance marker into an empty net. Konecsni then scored the 4-3 overtime winner against the Osoyoos Coyotes – his former team. Konecsni was +5 over the two games.
Bryton Morrow – Princeton Posse
Morrow put on a show with his shooting ability scoring four, including the winner and adding an assist in their 5-2 win over the Merritt Centennials. Morrow opened the scoring by instantly tapping in a Justice Loewen pass from the slot. Morrow then set up the winner in their 2-0 win over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. Morrow was +4.
Justice Loewen – Princeton Posse
Loewen set up all of the Posse goals in their 5-2 win over the Centennials, with two being secondary helpers. He teamed up with Morrow to set up the winner in a 2-0 victory against the Wranglers. Loewen was +4. It’s the second straight week Loewen has been selected.
Goalie:
Austin Seibel – Revelstoke Grizzlies
The Coldstream product won both his games, beginning with a 34-save performance against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats in a 4-1 win. Seibel then earned his first shutout with a 34-save performance against the Fernie Ghostriders on Oct. 25. Seibel made 16 saves in the third period. His stat line over two games – 0.50 goals against average and a stellar .986 save percentage. He has now won four starts in a row.
