Dynamiters take top spot in KIJHL Power Rankings

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Power Rankings for Week 21.

The Kimberley Dynamiters began their week with a 7-3 win over the Columbia Valley Rockies.

A four-goal second period pushed the Dynamiters to victory with Braeden Jack netting the winner with his 10th goal. Kimberley was led by Luke Davies with two goals (22) and four points, and Carter Coutu had three assists. Adam Kisilevich stopped 18 of 21 shots.

Then the Dynamiters doubled up the Castlegar Rebels 6-3. They scored three in the second period with Connor Grainger netting the winner on his fourth goal. Former Rebels goalie Mason Hillier made 21 saves to earn the win, and Davies had two goals (24). The Dynamiters are first overall in the KIJHL at 30-7-2-2.

The Grand Forks Border Bruins won their lone game of the week 4-1 over the Spokane Braves. Austin Tellefson’s 29th goal stood as the winner and Thomas Samborski made 23 saves. Logan McCabe had two assists. The Border Bruins are sixth in the league at 28-12-0-1.

The Revelstoke Grizzlies won both their weekend games, starting with a 7-0 shutout of the Sicamous Eagles. Jake Phillips-Watts scored twice (14) including the winner, and added an assist, with Austin Seibel making 27 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. Walker Overwater also scored twice (8) and Faris Meddeb had three points. The Grizzlies then shutout the Merritt Centennials 2-0. Jake Neufeld scored both goals and Seibel posted his second straight shutout with a 33-save effort. He now leads the league with five shutouts. The Grizzlies are second overall in the league at 30-6-1-2.

The Kamloops Storm split their games over the week losing 6-5 to the Williams Lake Mustangs to start, then earning a 4-3 overtime win over the Chase Heat. Against the Mustangs, Luca D’Amore led with a hat-trick (26) and Wyatt Olson had two assists with Brenner Fyfe making 19 saves. Against the Heat, Hayden Selin potted the winner with his 19th goal and Joshua Nuttall made 30 saves. Noah Paulsen had two points. The Storm are third overall at 30-9-1-1.

The Quesnel River Rush did not play any games last week and are 11th in the league at 21-14-4-1.
