The City of Kimberley, the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) and the BC Wildfire Service will be co-hosting a public information meeting tonight (Wednesday, August 15) at 6 p.m. at the Kimberley Conference & Athlete Training Centre (at the base of the ski hill).

This meeting will have representation from the RDEK and City of Kimberley along with a presentation by the BC Wildfire Service including specifics on the Meachen Creek and Lost Dog Fires.

There will be a Q&A opportunity at the end of the meeting.

If you are not able to attend, the meeting will be videoed and we are hoping to have a link posted within 24 hours of the meeting.

The Lost Dog fire, 14 km north of Kimberley, has triggered an evacuation alert for Ta Ta Creek and area and the Meachen Creek fire has triggered an evacuation alert for the St. Mary Valley up to the western edge of the City of Kimberley.
