Kimberley SAR rescue snowshoer
Yesterday at 4:25 p.m., Kimberley Search and Rescue (SAR) was tasked out by Kimberley RCMP to locate a missing snowshoer in a heavily forested area.
One member flew in a helicopter, RCMP Dog Services was en route, while a snowmobile team and a ski touring team were dispatched.
The snowshoer was quickly located and evacuated. The subject had gone out for a snowshoe and due to excessive snowfall in the area, took a wrong turn, Kimberley SAR reported on its Facebook page.
“The subject was hesitant to call for SAR because he mistakenly thought there would be a charge for rescue. Kimberley SAR would like to remind everyone there is NO CHARGE FOR RESCUE in B.C. Not even a helicopter charge,” Kimberley SAR noted.
