Kootenay Savings and USW continue talks
Kootenay Savings Credit Union and United Steelworkers (USW) Locals 1-405 and 9705 continue to try and hash out an agreement.
On Wednesday, October 19, Kootenay Savings reached out to United Steelworkers Union representatives to ask the union if it was willing to return to negotiations in an attempt to resolve the parties’ key issues.
“The union responded to our invitation, and negotiations resumed Thursday and continued this morning. The mediator was not involved at this time. This latest move follows strike and lock‐out notice being served earlier this week, putting both parties in a position to take job action as early as today,” a Kootenay Savings media release stated.
The USW (Steelworkers) Locals 1-405 and 9705 reported yesterday that the two sides agreed to postpone any possible work stoppage on Friday. “The two parties are still talking and talks are ongoing.”
