Merry Christmas from Kimberley RCMP

I know it’s hard to believe for some, but it’s been a year since my arrival in Kimberley.  I can say I’m pretty much settled in and feel comfortable in the new community.  As many know I worked in Cranbrook for a number of years but left in 1999.  Yes, it’s been that long. So moving to the East Kootenay was not new; I am familiar with the area and know a lot of people.

My first exposure to Kimberley was a trip through the area in 1989.  I skied and enjoyed a Café Mocha at the Snowdrift Café.  I knew I would be back; little did I know when or why.  But happy to be back all the same.

For those who know me, writing for the paper, speaking on the news and letting people know what’s going on, is something I have been practicing for over 20 years.  I firmly believe the police do an amazing job, but when you don’t know they headed out in the middle of the night to a serious crash in a blizzard, how can you be thankful? Police work is filled with stuff we can’t tell you, but it’s important we let you know what’s happening in your community.

Every week I select a few incidents to talk about, sometimes they are serious, other times funny and sometimes just good advice.  I hope you have enjoyed them and learned a little more about what the Kimberley RCMP are all about.

On behalf of all of us, we would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. We hope you enjoy and safe and fun holiday. And yes, there will be an policeman working Christmas day.  Let’s hope he is not needed.
