Notes from City Hall

Civic Centre Walking Track Hours

Effective April 9 until Sunday July 29, the Walking Track Hours will be Monday through to Sundays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

House Numbers

House numbers are not only convenient for finding addresses but are necessary for emergency responders to locate those in need. When responding to an emergency, minutes matter so be sure that house numbers are visible and easy to read from the street.

Did you know the City of Kimberley has a bylaw regarding house numbers? The “Kimberley House Numbering Bylaw, 1981” states that placing house numbers is the responsibility of the homeowner, numbers should be three inches in height and visible from the street. To view the full bylaw, please visit our website.

City Crews and Road Work

To ensure the safety of all concerned, please keep a respectful distance in construction zones (minimum 90’ / 30 m) from any city crews or contractors, open ditches and heavy equipment. The city is urging motorists to please be extra cautious and obey all road speed signs within city limits. Thank you for your cooperation.

Pitch-In Canada

Operation “Clean Sweep” will be held from April 22 to 29. This is open to any groups, neighbourhoods, schools, or individuals that would like to help clean up along the trails, streets, or fields and parks. Take a photo of your group and we will share it on the City’s Facebook page! To register and receive five free garbage bags please call the Operations Department at 250-427-9660.

The Scoop about Pet Waste

If you are disposing of pet waste, please remember to place it in securely tied, double plastic bags (i.e. pet waste bags or shopping bags) before putting it in the larger bag contained inside your garbage bin. This will help ensure the safety of our Solid Waste Collection Operators and is a requirement pursuant to section 5.3 of the City of Kimberley Solid Waste Regulations & Rates Bylaw No. 2520.

Sidewalk Cafe Licenses

It’s that time of year to submit a renewal agreement for Downtown Sidewalk Café Patios. Forms can be found on the city’s website or are available for pick up at City Hall front reception area. If you are thinking about installing a sidewalk patio for your downtown restaurant please contact [email protected] for more information.

Building Permits & Inspections

Planning a renovation or addition to your home? Dreaming of a new deck or garage? Remember to first obtain a Building Permit before starting your project. The permit and inspection process helps to ensure compliance with health, safety and zoning requirements. Building Permit application forms may be obtained at City Hall or the website. The Building Inspector can help you navigate the application process and discuss the relevant building code and other municipal requirements. If you have questions about the permit and inspection process, please contact the Building Inspector at 250-427-9655 or [email protected].
